Bogotá
A vibrant city with an interesting mix of history and modernity
In the Andes, at an altitude of 2600 meters, lies the capital of Colombia, Bogotá, with an estimated 9 million inhabitants. With residents from all over the world and a thriving cultural scene, Bogotá is a city with a lot to offer. The metropolis has several museums, such as the Gold Museum, the National Museum and the Botero Museum, where you can immerse yourself in Colombian history and culture.
In addition, Bogotá is known for its graffiti street art. Amazing murals, often depicting a political or historical message, can be found all over the city. Bogotá is also a popular city among cycling enthusiasts: no other major city in Latin America has more cycle paths and cycling is therefore very popular.
Most visitors to the city go to the La Candelaria district, the beautiful colonial center of Bogotá where it is pleasant to stroll through the sloping streets with their colorful colonial houses. To the north there are more chic, modern neighborhoods, with world-class bars, cafes and restaurants.

Amazon Region
Tailored Amazon tours for an unforgettable experience
Unspoiled jungle where the monkeys watch you from the treetops, where you can swim with pink dolphins in Lago Tarapoto and where you sleep with the sounds of the jungle: the Amazon, one of the most beautiful destinations in Colombia. The gigantic area of 643,000 square kilometers covers a third of Colombia’s territory and has eight sparsely populated departments where indigenous peoples live.
You fly to Leticia, capital of the Amazonas department, on the border with Brazil and Peru. Reachable only by water or air, this chaotic jungle city is the gateway to indigenous communities and the jungle’s deepest ecological refuges. Hike and navigate the jungle and admire the abundance of wildlife, learn about the traditions of indigenous communities, and listen to the jungle from a hammock.

Guaviare
An untouched paradise with its lush rainforests, towering cliffs, and ancient landscapes waiting to be discovered
The jungle department of Guaviare is located in the transition area between the Amazon Region, the Llanos, and the Andes. You will find dense jungle with bizarre geological rock formations and red-colored rivers, rocks with thousands of years old drawings of indigenous peoples, waterfalls and countless birds and other animals. In short, Guaviare is the place for lovers of nature, tranquility and culture.
For a long time, it was impossible to visit Guaviare: the region was known for its coca cultivation and was hit hard by the conflict that Colombia suffered for many years. Those days are over, and with the help of the government, residents have been able to make the transition from coca cultivation to ecotourism.

Medellín
A city of friendly and creative people, surrounded by beautiful mountains
Medellín is the capital of the mountainous province of Antioquia and is also called “City of Eternal Spring”. After the turbulent 1980s and 1990s, Medellín’s reputation has greatly improved and it has become a lively and hip city. For several years now, modern cable cars have been connecting the city center with the surrounding working-class neighborhoods, which have benefited greatly from them.
An example of a neighborhood that has significantly revived is Comuna 13, which was very infamous until a few years ago, but is now safe and vibrant with positive activities that help residents to earn a living.
The famous artist Fernando Botero comes from Medellín and his characteristic statues and paintings can be seen in various places in the city center. The annual Feria de las Flores (the flower festival) in August is spectacular also.

La Guajira
One of Colombia’s most special destinations is the coastal village of Cabo de la Vela, in the middle of the desert of the northern province of La Guajira. Think of remote sandy beaches with rugged rock formations on a calm blue Caribbean sea, against the backdrop of the dusty red desert, populated by the indigenous Wayuu with their special culture.
In Cabo de la Vela, originally a fishing village, you will find little comfort. There is no running water. Electricity comes at most from a generator and the accommodation is basic. But the experience is unforgettable.

Cartagena
A beautiful and perfectly preserved 16th century town with squares, cobblestone streets and colorful colonial buildings
Cartagena de Indias is by far the most beautiful city in the Caribbean. The centuries old walled city center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, seems like it was made for wandering for hours. It is a maze of colorful colonial houses on narrow streets and alleys that end in shady squares where in the afternoon street musicians and dancers show the best of the swinging Caribbean culture.
But there is also plenty to do outside the city walls. The archipelago Islas del Rosario (Rosary Islands) is an hour’s boat ride from the port of Cartagena. Here you find the pearly white beaches and turquoise sea for which the Caribbean is known. Even closer are the beaches of Cartagena, where the day can end with a dip in the sea and watching the enchanting sunset.
